4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 10 Beta & 5 Reasons You Should

The 10 is here and its collection of features makes it a tempting installed ahead of its release in the fall. While there are certainly some to consider installing the early version of Apple’s latest update, there are also some to skip the 10 .

Apple detailed its next major update during its WWDC 2016 keynote in June. The 10 update is confirmed and it’s slated to arrive for iPhones, iPads and iPod touches later this year, probably alongside the new iPhone 7

The iOS 10 release date is confirmed for the fall but you can try Apple’s new operating system long before that thanks to an iOS 10 beta.

iOS 10 Compatible Devices

Apple’s iOS 10 beta is now available for developers and to the general public via the company’s Beta Software Program.

While most people will want to wait for the final iOS 10 release in the fall, others might want to give the iOS 10 beta a go this summer ahead of the Gold Master.

Installing early software like the iOS 10 beta has its benefits but there’s also a downside to installing Apple’s early iOS software. We want to touch on both here.

If you’re on the fence about whether or not to the iOS 10 beta on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, take a look at our list of to and skip the latest version of iOS. It should help you onto one side of the fence or the other.

iOS 10 Beta if You Want New Emoji

1 / 9Install iOS 10 Beta if You Want New Emoji

Apple’s iOS 10 update is set to deliver over 100 new emoji characters to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch this fall. You can get them right now thanks to the iOS 10 beta.

The iOS 10 beta 4 brings a ton of new and redesigned emoji characters to iOS. The biggest change are the expanded gender options.

For instance, you can now select a female policewoman. This character doesn’t exist if you’re using emoji on iOS 9. There’s also a female swimmer.

There are also new male emojis. For example, you can now select a male massage emoji or a male haircut emoji.

These are all part of an update to Unicode though there are still a number of emojis missing in the iOS 10 beta 4. It’s not clear if Apple will add those at a later date.

One other quick note about these emojis. If you like the pistol emoji, you might not want the iOS 10 beta. The iOS 10 beta does away with the pistol emoji and replaces it with a green water gun.
