Once plugged into iTunes the app will ask you to Restore or to Update. Try to Update first.

Hopefully you can update to restore instead of doing a complete restore that will wipe your iPhone.

“We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.”

There are now stickers and you can doodle and draw on photos you take to really spice up your messages. You may not need other keyboards to deliver all your creativity.
