How to in Two Languages on iPhone

Here are the steps to enable multiple languages for typing on your iPhone.

Watch the above video to learn how to quickly enable multiple languages for your keyboard.

Enable Multiple Languages

The first step is to navigate to the Settings app and then General and then finally Keyboard. You will notice the amount of keyboards currently being use at the top of the screen, with multiple options below for further customizations.

Tapping the keyboards tab will open the menu for adding additional keyboards. You will see what you are currently using, often the default English keyboard and maybe an Emoji board. Tapping Add New Keyboard will allow you to add additional languages to type with.

Depending on the language you are looking for, Apple should have support for the majority of all major dialects and even some more obscure so scroll until you find your desired language. By adding a keyboard to your list, you will be able to utilize the full keyboard within any app that lets you type.

Typing in Multiple Languages

Now that we have enabled additional keyboard options for you to use, you can navigate to any app that you plan to type in. For example if you are using Messages and want to change the keyboard, you will tap and hold on the World icon.

Holding and scrolling will reveal all of your available and active keyboards. If you enabled Spanish for example, you will see this appear as a selectable option. Lifting your tap on your selected keyboard will now switch to type in that language.

When you are finished typing in your different language and want to switch back, you repeat the same behavior of tapping and dragging until you select the language you want. This is a very quick gesture in order to change typing languages and doesn’t require leaving your current app once you have this language enabled in settings.

Using multiple languages from once device gives iPhone users the ability to communicate across the globe and keep in touch with friends and family without having to translate or access another app. This is a great testament to Apple’s desire for better world communication and using the iPhone as a device to help achieve that.
