Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Update: 5 Reasons to Get Excited & 1 Not To
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Android Nougat update continues to gather steam as we push into the month of March. And while the company’s focus is currently on the flagship model and its Nougat upgrade, a few other devices should get their Nougat update in the near future.
One of those devices is the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the big screen device that launched the year before the company’s ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 arrived with Android Lollipop on board. The device currently runs Samsung’s version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which means Android Nougat represents the device’s second major operating system upgrade.
As the year’s gone on, we’ve learned more about Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy Note 5 and its Android Nougat release.
With a release on the horizon, we want to take you through a few of the things you should be excited about if you’re the proud owner of a Galaxy Note 5.
We also want to take a look at one thing that might leave you a bit disappointed as we close in on the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update’s release in the United States and countries around the world.
Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Release Could Be Very Close1 / 6
Maybe the first thing to get excited about is the potential for a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release next month.
Samsung’s confirmed a Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release for the first half of 2017 but we expect it to land long before the end of Q2 (June). In fact, we could see a Galaxy Note 5 Android 7.0 release take place, well, any day now.
Let’s begin with some basics. We know that the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update is making progress in testing because its 1) shown up in benchmarks and 2) its recently received Wi-Fi certifications for several regions including the United States. A Wi-Fi certification is necessary ahead of a public release.
So, we know the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release is moving in a positive direction. We also know that at least one arm of Samsung believes the update will be released in March.
Samsung Turkey recently released a Nougat roadmap, seen in a screenshot here. The roadmap, which the company has since pulled, lists the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release in March. March 6th to be exact.
While this probably isn’t the official roll out date it suggests that the company is anticipating a release in the near future.
As we enter the month of March, the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update could start rolling out at any time and that’s pretty exciting.
